Although rebuilds can be costly due to the work involved in stripping the rods, it can still save you money and if you have any sentimental attachment to a certain set or a single rod then you can't put a price on that.

A lot of builders stay away from rebuilds, but I actually quite enjoy the challenge of taking something that has seen better days and making it look as good as new, although this option is only avaialble on certain blanks.

This could be for a number of reasons such as the blank finish, blank age etc. as if the worst was to happen when stripping the rod then a replacment might not be availiabe to purchase anymore as it has been discontinued.
