MY STORY
I’ve been fishing since I was around 10 years old, growing up right on the South Coast of the UK. My early days spent sea-fishing, chasing anything I could catch from the local piers and beaches.
As time went on, I was introduced into freshwater fishing. I started with the usual float tactics for smaller species like roach and perch, gradually working my way up to the bigger fish.
Discovering carp fishing was a turning point, and I’ve been passionate about it for over 35 years now.
I’ve always had a methodical, detail-focused approach to things. From an early age, I wanted to understand exactly how and why equipment performed the way it did.
After a few disappointing experiences with custom rods from other builders – issues with finish, and overall quality – I decided to learn the skills myself.
I studied blank selection, spine alignment, guide placement and finishing techniques until I could produce rods that met my own high standards.
In 2014, that passion became a business and Hampshire Custom Rods was born.
What I enjoy most is working directly with customers to create rods tailored exactly to their needs. Whether it’s a specific action, length, component choice, or look, I collaborate closely to make sure the final build matches your vision perfectly.
Attention to detail is at the heart of everything I do. Every item must be precise and every finish flawless.
My main goal is customer satisfaction. I want every customer who receives one of my rods to feel that their vision of what they were looking for has not only been met but exceeded.
If you’re looking for a truly custom rod, built with care and precision, I’ll be happy to discuss your project.
